Description Mel Trotter Ministries is seeking - Data Intern

Summary of the Role

The Data Intern plays a vital role in supporting multiple departments. This role works under the direction of the Director of Grants and Data, and in collaboration with the IT, Finance, Programs, and Advancement teams to provide data entry, reporting, and analysis as well as project-based support. The Data Intern will maintain data quality for several city, state, and federal grant reporting and will curate data for other current and future grant opportunities.

Job Plan

Data Entry

  • Learn how data is collected by frontline staff
  • Transfer data between technology platforms
  • Assist frontline staff with data collection processes

Data Reporting

  • Run frequent reports on data quality
  • Follow up with staff to correct data quality issues
  • Share report results with team leads

Data Analysis

  • Provide analytical expertise and insights on report results
  • Proactively seek to gain a deeper understanding of the data ecosystem

Grant Reporting and Opportunities

  • Learn and maintain grant requirements
  • Communicate and ensure understanding of grant requirements with implementing staff

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or education
  • Must be able to learn to administer multiple technology platforms including the Michigan Statewide Homeless Management Information System (MSHMIS), Resident Tracker, and Virtuous CRM
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel or related software
  • Must communicate effectively by email, exhibit professional behavior at all times, and make independent decisions to move projects and tasks forward
  • Must possess a curiosity and an analytical mindset to problem solving

Working Conditions

  • Regular standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, pushing, or pulling
  • Understand, speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Ability to communicate verbally and to accurately hear, with hearing correction
  • Ability to see 20/20, with vision correction
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly
