Part Time - Days and afternoon. Weekend rotation required. 40 hour per pay period
Full Time - 80 hours per pay period 630a-3p Weekend rotation required

Knowledge and Abilities - Must know how to use cleaning devices, correct solutions and materials. Must be able to follow schedules and Facility procedures. Able to give and receive written and oral instructions and directions in English. Possess basic and accurate mathematical skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient conditions and personal matters.

INTERPRETATION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Perform Routine and Periodic Cleaning
    1. Dust mop and wet mop assigned areas including patient rooms, bath-rooms, utility rooms, common areas, work station, medication room (under nursing supervision)
    2. Dust horizontal surfaces daily
    3. Refill all soap and towel dispensers
    4. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly and other cleaning duties as assigned
    5. Transport waste including wastebasket trash and special bags containing contaminated waste to main collection receptacle or outdoors
    6. Vacuum carpeted areas.
    7. Make beds on cleaned vacant unit(s) as assigned. Must be able to clean up to four patient rooms in one hour, including damp mop.
  2. Adhere to Safety and Sanitation Standards
    1. Maintain good personal hygiene and adhere to uniform requirement
    2. Use and store own equipment and supplies effectively, efficiently and safely.
    3. Use only authorized chemicals and agents as directed.
    4. Daily practice universal precautions and other posted special precautions in patient environment.
    5. Assist with blood spill clean up in conjunction with licensed nurse direction.
    6. Clean own equipment and cart at end of shift
    7. Abide by Facility infection control policies and procedures.
    8. Report faulty equipment to supervisor.
    9. Attend in-service programs as required.
    10. Leave patient room clean and neat as possible.
  3. Communicate Effectively and Maintain Confidentiality
    1. Display courteous, interested, and tactful manner when dealing with elderly, disabled patients, coworkers or the public.
    2. Initiate recommendations for improvements to supervisor.
    3. Report any unusual situations to supervisor and/or charge nurse if con-cerning a patient.
    4. Maintain confidentiality as required by HIPAA.
    5. Properly modulate voice to maintain homelike environment for patients.
    6. Document on departmental checklists or inspections.
  4. Promote Positive Public Relations for the Facility
    1. Display helpful attitude to patient, other employees and visitors.
    2. Represent the Facility in a positive manner.
    3. Adhere to Patient Rights and report deviations to immediate supervisor.
    4. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  5. Perform Other Tasks as Required
    1. Provide prompt response and assistance in emergency.
    2. Change schedule or work overtime on occasion to meet needs of the department.
    3. Restock nursing cleaning supplies/chemicals.
    4. Follow emergency and evacuation procedures.
  6. Attend Meetings As Required
    1. Attend staff meetings as scheduled
    2. Attend other meetings as required

Position Requirements 
Must be able to read and write and follow oral and written instructions.  High school diploma or GED preferred.  Previous housekeeping experi-ence in an institutional or commercial setting is helpful.
