Currently, Meijer is looking for a Industrial Engineer. Responsible for supporting the development of engineered standards, implementation of Industrial Engineering principles, applying engineering concepts to forecast future budgets including sales and customer delivery which eliminate non-value added work, reduces cost and improves customer service. Practices 200% Safety Accountability – self and others.

Key Deliverables:

  • Analyzes and reviews Operations key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement, determine root cause, and develop plan(s) to resolve; leads execution of the resolution.
  • Creates and maintains standards for all departments within the assigned area.
  • Audits standards to determine change conditions.
  • Facilitates ongoing efficiency improvements.
  • Plans, leads and works cross-functionally with project stakeholders from Conceptual design through execution of project plans related to reengineering and optimization, using standard project management tools, e.g. PMI methodology, Lean Six Sigma.
  • Supports Resource Conversation programs.
  • Develops models of current and future facility, manufacturing and/or warehouse layouts. Evaluates model results and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Evaluates pertinent technologies and makes purchasing recommendations.
  • Researches and recommends continuous improvement opportunities for the operation based on external benchmarking and industry best practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.

  • Black Belt certification preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience preferred OR relevant internship experience

  • Experience with installing efficiency improvements.

  • Understanding of standard development and validation

  • Proven understanding of statistics and strong analytic skills

  • Knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma principles and standard project management processes with ability to apply strong project management skills

  • Intuitive ability to recognize innovative opportunities that may be applied at Meijer

  • Ability to translate service requirements and risk mitigation throughout the process

  • Knowledge of productivity and utilization practices

  • Knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal communication skills

  • Interpersonal skills to deal with all level of the organization

  • Presentation skills

  • Proven ability and eagerness to learn new skill sets

  • Knowledge and proven application of key Industrial Engineering principles, including but not limited to; standard development, workplace layout, and best method determination.

  • Ability to travel between Meijer Lansing, MI distribution center and other Meijer distribution centers in the Midwest.
