Certification as RHIT, RHIA and/or CCS. Consider RN with CCS; CCS-P a plus. Extensive knowledge of ICD-9 CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding principles and guidelines. Extensive knowledge of reimbursement systems. Extensive knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and billing. Minimum of two years coding or coding review experience with claims processing and data management responsibilities. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Prefer someone with training background in coding and reimbursement.
