Custom Profile is an employee-owned company that develops and manufactures specialty thermoplastic profile extrusions and sub-assemblies with locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Camden, SC and Juarez, Mexico. Our in-house tooling design and fabrication allows for complete control of quality and reduced lead times. The company boasts a blue-chip customer base, including Herman Miller, Haworth, Hon/Allsteel, Steelcase, Whirlpool, Electrolux, GE Appliance, 3M and others.

  • Grow sales annually with new and existing accounts by introducing new product and service solutions.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of new sales with existing and new accounts.
  • Adhere to established company opportunity filters
  • Advocate for the customer while delivering a wide range of actions and results for the company
  • Close sales by building relationships with existing and potential new accounts at all levels of the organization.
  • Initiates sales process by scheduling appointments, developing/making initial presentations, engaging company subject matter experts as appropriate, and understanding account requirements as well as customer behaviors.
  • Assist in identifying new markets by engaging customers in those respective markets.
  • Contributes information to market strategy by understanding the competitive landscape and providing market intelligence.
  • Interface with customers (sourcing, engineering, new product development teams) to obtain information to adequately quote programs.
  • Follow up on open issues related to quote requests.
  • Proficient in reading part prints as part of the quoting process and provide all relevant information required to accurately quote in accordance with company protocols and procedures.
  • Meet or exceed annual budgeted sales goals.
  • Participate in the budget process and strategic planning.
  • Plan travel within territory that is cost effective while maximizing the number of sales meetings.
  • Participate and own the forecast for area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of outside sales experience required; a suitable combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business/engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated success with managing and growing geographical territories.
  • Experience in the plastic processing industry preferred, however other process-based, conversion industry experience will be taken into consideration

  • Microsoft Office experience (word, outlook, excel)
  • Strong blueprint reading skills.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on progressively more responsibility.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training.
  • Ability to prospect new business opportunities; be persistent, aggressive, and meet sales goals as required.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Prefer strong technical skillset related to plastic processing or similar conversion industries

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • The noise level in our work environment is moderate.
  • Safety glasses, hearing protection and closed-toe shoes must be worn on the production floor.
  • Travel required up to 50% of the time.
