Under limited supervision, bring the experience of manufacturing, best practices in quality, and efficiency to support the production equipment building and installation processes by conceptualizing, designing, programming and troubleshooting electrical control systems. This is done by applying knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and standards, controls circuitry, computers and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s).

Required Skills

  • Conceptualize / develop control systems solutions.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing electrical systems related to woodworking equipment and machines.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinate resources, provide electrical estimates & project documentation.
  • Research / evaluate new technology for electrical controls systems.
  • Clarify design issues and direct machine build electricians, maintenance electricians machine builders and tooling personnel as well as making electrical recommendations to other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards such as NEC and NFPA 79.
  • Understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and mechanical drawings as related to electrical controls.
  • Competent in the programming and integration of CNC controls.
  • Experience in the design, sizing, and programming of motion control systems.
  • Experience in the application and use of industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, and DeviceNet.
  • Experience in the application and troubleshooting of variable frequency drives.
  • Proficient in the application and programming of Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs using PL7 and SoMachine software.
  • Experience in the application and programming of Allen-Bradley CompactLogix processors.
  • Experience in the application and programming of Siemens PLCs.
  • Experience in programming in a CoDeSys environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills: MS office products, AutoCAD for schematics, Rockwell Software,
Required Experience
  • 4-year engineering degree preferred or 2-year technical degree with 4 years of electrical controls experience.
  • 2-years preferred experience in the application of technical expertise, with a sustained history of high-level performance directly impacting business results.
