About this Opportunity
As a Business Systems Analyst – Corporate Reporting Systems, you'll conduct activities in support of large projects/functions or major business units. Your assignments will typically provide exposure to more complex financial concepts, issues, and activities. You'll also participate in the preparation of highly detailed and complex analyses and research for financial forecasts and projections.

  • Take responsibility for administering the corporate reporting systems used for consolidations, external reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Take responsibility for systems design, documentation, training, and support of end users domestically and internationally.
  • Act as liaison between IT and the Finance function relative to the application.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, complex reports, forms, and grids from the system, as well as in Excel add-in functions.
  • Work with business partners to identify all requirements for application and design changes to ensure that the finished product meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Deliver solutions with effective project management, including change management with each end user adoption.
  • Design, develop, test, document, and implement business-focused technical solutions using the corporate reporting system.
  • Develop and independently implement work strategies to achieve desired results.
  • Interact with domestic and international business units during the closing and budgeting process to identify and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and utilize the system development environment for testing application changes and migrate changes to production as changes are accepted.
  • Maintain user security and access rights for the system.
  • Provide maintenance of data mapping schemes source systems into the corporate reporting system.
  • Support changes to corporate structure changes, business unit alignment, and for new GAAP changes.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and how they may optimize business practices.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with GAAP and established Herman Miller guidelines.
  • Conduct financial analysis through the application of advanced and/or specialized accounting/finance principles, concepts, theories, and techniques.
  • Contact and network with both internal and external sources to collect, validate, and interpret more complex data, and lead in the communication of more detailed technical information.
  • Continuously increase your personal knowledge of the organization and personal business acumen through ongoing learning activities.
  • Develop work strategies to achieve desired results and conduct activities with limited supervision. You will confer with leadership on unusual issues and situations.
  • Function as a Financial Analyst and key business partner with your assigned client group(s)/segment of the organization.
  • Work independently on complex problems/projects that are broad in nature and require a thorough understanding of accounting/finance fundamentals.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Other degrees with an emphasis on Information Systems may be considered. A CPA and MBA are preferred, with a willingness to obtain and maintain certifications for the software being supported.
  • Four to seven years of professional financial experience.
  • Two to five years of experience using corporate reporting systems such as Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Oracle Hyperion FSC, or One Stream.
  • Accounting/finance experience in the areas of closing, consolidation, external reporting, and planning with a large international organization (desired).
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing reports and dashboards.
  • An understanding of general ledger systems, cost accounting, consolidation process, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency translations.
  • Strong computer skills and an understanding of relational databases.
  • Advanced Power Excel user knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with VB Script in order to understand business rule script, or significant experience with business rule script.
  • A demonstrated ability to use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment, including a thorough understanding of financial software, Herman Miller information systems, and data warehouses. You'll also need the ability to use Business Intelligence tools.
  • Highly-developed knowledge and expertise in Finance, resulting in the confidence to advise, influence, and partner with various groups to affect change, guide business decisions, and identify reporting needs.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Highly-developed analytical skills necessary to analyze problems and generate new ideas and solutions.
  • A demonstrated ability to identify, define, and resolve complex problems, projects, and programs, as well as the ability to identify trends and issues.
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise in the financial area of specialty.
  • A proven ability to accomplish desired objectives and outcomes by influencing individuals at all levels.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
