Description This dynamic and highly collaborative role is accountable for directing accurate and complete data at an enterprise level supporting Merchandising and connected areas. The Master Data Management (MDM) manager oversees and develops a comprehensive data governance structure and the processes that inform and enforce decision authority for data standards, data valuation and data management. The MDM manager creates the strategy and vision that drives data policy development. Supporting Merchandising data process, system, quality and strategy from item set up to reporting and analysis. The MDM manager develops and directs supervisors, analysts, and stewards which includes the Support Call Center, Vendor Management, Data Quality, and Merchandising Support (item and promotional set up).


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Ensures accountability for data integrity by establishing the necessary processes and controls around the flow of data from data creation and acquisition systems, through reporting systems to ensure data quality for the enterprise.
  • Builds strong strategic partnerships with Merchandising leadership and critical functional areas to develop the data structures for products that will ensure data integrity and align with business objectives.
  • Establishes and oversees the Data Governance Council that sets direction for data standards, data values and data usage which integrates with our technology.
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts, IT, Training and Process to make improvements regarding Business and Vendor data inaccuracies, which drive poor data quality and customer experiences.
  • Delivers all Master Data requirements regarding Digital Assets and Metadata for ingestion by all departments within Merchandising and Marketing.
  • Directs the development and monitoring of data requirements gathering standards, practices and technology enablers.
  • Owns and enforces the data capture, editing and transformation standards and practices for reporting of data.
  • Engages in integrated data architecture discussions and recommends use of data structures and edits which will enhance current systems, support architecture standards and comply with corporate data policy.
  • Directs the work activities and has full management responsibility for the performance and development of staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Combined 5 years of leadership experience in merchandising, supply chain management, supply chain operations, business intelligence or vendor performance management.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Excellent and detailed knowledge of the retail industry, its products, practices and operations.
  • Understanding of data management principles, value propositions, and strategies for managing data as a strategic asset.
  • Proven decision making, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to work effectively among all levels of internal/external partners/clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey business requirements and technical needs in a clear, concise and effective manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines concurrently.
  • Advanced technical skills in profiling data, creating data structures, querying tools.
  • Expert at leading the development and integration of data solutions.
  • Proven change agent.
