Description
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejected damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to hold areas.
  • Manage and organize DeWys inventory area to maximize floor space for key customer product inventory.
  • Determines method of shipment.
  • Load and unload trucks as needed. Making sure to inspect parts as needed.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Generate packing list and bill of lading documents as needed.
  • Review next day daily schedule and report all exceptions to Team Facilitator.
  • Expedite all late or short cycled outside service items.
  • Receive all outside service materials and repackage for shipment as needed for next morning delivery.
  • Maintain periodic inventory and cycle count to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping and other departmental packaging materials and supplies.
  • Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving areas to work centers, office or storage.
  • Manufacturing support as needed including machinery operation.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Team Facilitator/Leader.

Requirements

  • High school education; or one to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Needs to be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Needs to be able to write simple correspondence. Needs to be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
  • Needs to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be capable of reading calipers and tape measure.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license to be licensed as a qualified lift truck driver at DeWys Manufacturing, Inc.
