The Recreation Aide will demonstrate a broad range of skills and talents related to program development, design and implementation of year round community based recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and senior citizens; the Recreation Aide will participate/lead community activities with participants; providing hands-on assistance when needed. This highly organized individual will provide information to participants about times, travel arrangements, costs, and other event details and work closely with the transportation department, other programs, and administration. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; pursing a degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, recreation therapy, special education, business, marketing or liberal arts will be considered an asset, but is not required; must be able to pass Recipient Rights, First Aid and CPR training. This position requires excellent organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and use Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate to advanced level. Must have the ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals, including individuals with disabilities. Must have a valid Michigan Driverâ€™s License with less than six points.
