About this Opportunity
As the Vice President of Global Brand Marketing, you'll provide strategic leadership for Global Brand Marketing through launching and managing strategic initiatives to grow the iconic portfolio of brands within the Herman Miller business. You will partner with executive leadership to ensure Marketing strategies and brand standards are in alignment with corporate goals. You'll be directly accountable for leading the development and implementation of the Global Brand Marketing programs to achieve business objectives.

  • Ensure Marketing activities are conducted within fiscally-accountable parameters and are in support of corporate financial objectives.
  • Coach and mentor staff, including other senior leaders within their organization, determine appropriate staffing levels, ensure employee development, and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
  • Define, measure, and report the performance of all paid marketing channels/campaigns and assess against ROI and KPI goals, including subscriber acquisition and retention.
  • Participate in the development of strategies for strategic alliances and partnerships, identify appropriate targets, and pursue relationships as appropriate.
  • Integrate any organizations and businesses that may arise from company M&A activity.
  • Partner and collaborate with Category Leads to establish market segmentation strategies, product positioning, new product launch strategies and tactics, and promotional plans to create consistent and relevant market messages and programs that support the growth and revenue plans of Herman Miller Vertical Businesses and Categories.
  • Partner with the Chief Digital Officer to deliver an online marketing strategy that attracts, converts, and retains customers.
  • Partner with regional area leads to ensure alignment with the Global Brand Marketing strategy across the organization operating regions.
  • Develop the Global Brand Marketing strategy and refine it as market factors change by setting near- and long-term business goals for the Marketing team that are consistent with the overall Marketing strategy and overall business goals.
  • Take responsibility for enterprise-wide product launch and nurture campaigns.
  • Take responsibility for the overall Marketing calendar linking the activities of all brands, product launches, social activities, and various brand engagement.
  • Take responsibility for the customer segmentation strategy and developing smart attribution modeling, ensuring we reach the right audience with the right message at the right place and time.
  • Lead a diverse team of Marketing specialists while effectively partnering with senior Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations leadership.
  • Work with an Analytics team to lead marketing analytics and ROI analysis for campaigns and channels, defining CAC and LTV, while executing robust optimization and A/B testing programs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or another applicable discipline, or equivalent professional experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience as an executive, cross-functional Marketing leader.
  • Global leadership experience with a proven track record of results across multiple areas.
  • Extensive agency management experience with deep exposure to direct marketing, online marketing, and emerging marketing channels.
  • Successful experience in brand management, marketing, advertising, and communications in a direct management/supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated leadership competence as defined by Herman Miller’s Leadership Skills and Behaviors, including the proven ability to effectively focus resources to implement a business strategy, generate excitement and commitment around the vision and goals, and drive innovation and change.
  • Successful experience managing multiple functions, with deep functional competence in one or more areas.
  • A proven history of successfully driving key strategic initiatives within an organization beyond your immediate span of control.
  • The ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • The ability to build strong credibility and relationships at all levels internally and externally.
  • The ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings and in diverse situations.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and work with all levels in the organization, including executive leadership.

  • A proven leadership ability with a demonstrated high level of integrity and the willingness to accept responsibility and make decisions for expedient problem resolution.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment.
  • Successful experience with change management principles and a demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process from strategic planning through implementation and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated expert written/verbal communication skills and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences, including the highest level of the organization and senior executives externally.
  • A proven track record in conceptualizing, implementing, and managing an exciting brand vision and marketing plans.
  • High personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn, and a results-oriented work style.
