Here at Amway, our interns develop through real world experience and are assigned meaningful projects that challenge and allow for personal growth. All Interns receive project support and on-going performance feedback from a person advisor and hiring manager. Amway hosts over 80+ interns each summer and offers programming events designed to assist navigating Amway culture, making the most of a summer internship, and building a successful career. The program provides exposure to a breadth of career fields and provides unique opportunities to learn business acumen, work cross-functionally and showcase their skillsets directly to hiring managers and executives.

This job posting is for our summer 2020 Internship Program (May – August); qualified candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and one semester or more left of school to complete at the beginning of their internship. Candidates who have graduated are not eligible to intern.

Internship Job Title: Industrial Engineering Intern

What is special about this team: Plant Engineering is a plant support team. The objective of the team is to improve the efficiency, quality and labor utilization of a manufacturing plant. Key examples include; capacity constraints, downtime, excessive cost, scrap, inventory, material and people flow, and ergonomics. The plant engineering team also assists in the design and selection of new manufacturing process. This team is key to ensuring the supply chain is smooth and outputs/products of the process are delivered per requirements and schedule.

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success: An intern will contribute to the teams success by working on an individualized project which would directly improve the efficiency or quality of the production process.

An example of a typical project is:

  • Automating a manual soft gel packing process.
  • Reducing changeover time to provide more run time on a powder drink filling process
  • Analyzing a loading process to improve operator safety
  • Determine the optimal flow of material, as well as the right amount, for a process
  • Address scrap and downtime issues on a process

What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?

Desired Skills: Analytical and problem solving, comfortable being on the shop floor as well as analyzing data. 4-6 courses in Engineering discipline. Lean analysis skillset, leadership skills, Manufacturing process understanding, Interpersonal skills (active

in student organization).

Desired Degree: Bachelors degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Operations Engineering Engineering
