Currently, Meijer is looking for a Logistics Analyst II. This role defines, develops and reports on logistical efficiency within the organization. Proactively searches out ways of reducing costs and improving services. Monitors logistics service provider performance and drives for improvement. Works with stakeholders cross functionally across the organization as well as the vendor community to improve overall product flow. Develops network models, identifies inefficiencies and implements improvements to current logistics activities.

Key Deliverables:

  • Develops and recommends logistical solutions to improve inbound service and cost improvements to product flow.

  • Creates, reviews and executes transportation and logistics services related RFP’s.

  • Sets metrics and monitors performance metrics with carrier and service providers.

  • Performs continuous analysis for improving department processes and procedures.

  • Plans and leads projects using standard project management methodologies including Lean / Six Sigma.

  • Reviews network design to ensure the flow of merchandise from the vendor to the Meijer DF locations is achieved at the lowest sustainable cost.

  • Works with merchandising, merchandise planning and operations partners to execute plans.

  • Develops and implements new concepts to improve on time purchase order arrival and network visibility.

  • Presents, communicates and manages inbound supply chain flow with internal and external resources.

  • Conducts analysis on key performance indicators, identified opportunities for improvement, determines root cause and develops plan to resolve. Leads from opportunity to resolution.

  • Assists in the training and development of support staff. Trains staff on new system functionality and tools. Serves as a mentor to team members.

  • Bachelor degree of Business Administration or Supply Chain with 3 years of experience or equivalent logistics experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in supply chain preferred
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are needed. Intermediate to strong MS Excel skills. Successful candidates will have strong curiosity to exploring new data sources and tools.
  • Previous SQL or other coding experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of LEAN Six Sigma principles and standard project management processes.
  • Intuitive ability to recognize innovative opportunities that could be applied to Meijer.
  • Proven ability to learn on-the-job and acquire new technical skills
