Meijer is seeking candidates for an Energy/Engineering internship opportunities! Join our program to get experience in your field while also learning more about the retail industry and the breadth of career opportunities that support the shopper experience. Your internship will include interaction with other interns, experts in your area of study, and Meijer senior leadership.



  • Geothermal technology
    • Research applications and opportunities to implement geothermal technology in the different variations of Meijer stores (Supercenter, Convenience Store, Market Format). Compare against competitor behaviors
    • Validate design while considering cost, energy savings, and impacts to the environment.
    • How would we educate our customers on what and why we utilize geothermal technology?
  • Building energy efficiency
    • Evaluate current building envelope
    • Research current and forthcoming code implications to Meijer
    • Design validation
      • Opportunities
      • Energy

      • Environment
  • Other opportunities as assigned


  • Progress toward a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access
  • Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers, and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data
  • Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line
  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
  • Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies
  • Communication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally

This position requires day only travel 15% of the time.
