About this Opportunity
As a Corporate Risk Compliance Analyst, you'll conduct administrative activities to protect Herman Miller's assets and earnings from the risks of accidental loss or excessive benefit cost through a risk management program. You will use a judicious combination of loss prevention, self-retention of risk, benefit cost analysis and control, and insurance-related strategies to achieve an optimum, cost effective level of protection.

Assess alternative techniques for treating risks through risk control and risk financing, and suggest alternatives that are consistent with the financial position of the corporation.
Conduct a variety of risk functions, including overseeing the issuance and receipt of certificates of insurance, the review of all contracts and agreements, the handling of bonds, and the investigation and adjustment of property and liability claims. You will also monitor claims handling in other areas, as well as loss prevention efforts.
Conduct administrative activities such as managing and monitoring the department budget, expenditures, and reconcilement reporting. You will manage risk for all insurance programs, such as property, casualty, auto, workers' compensation, product liability, ocean cargo, and "self-insured" losses.
Conduct activities consistent with the accepted risk management processes to identify and analyze risks which could result in financial loss to the corporation.
Coordinate a concise reporting process that provides management with timely information regarding compliance issues.
Coordinate activities with our insurance broker as it relates to our loss control efforts and insurance coverages, including the negotiation of terms and cost of insurance coverages and employee benefits.
Coordinate ongoing training programs designed to promote understanding and awareness of compliance issues facing the business.
Coordinate with Herman Miller teams on the development and maintenance of a global compliance program and assist with implementing the local compliance program regarding company rules and procedures, anti-trust, government regulations, customs, FCPA, etc.
Develop and allocate loss reconciliation, accrual, and annual insurance expense to parent and subsidiary companies.
Develop training modules in MyLearn for the protection of confidential information, social media, anti-bribery, supply chain protection, etc.
Maintain and recommend revisions to the corporate risk management policy as appropriate.
Oversee claims management activities, including reporting procedures, claims, investigation, conferring with claimants, attorneys and brokers, and claims settlement.
Participate in professional associations such as the Risk and Insurance Management Society and attend appropriate seminars and professional programs as a part of continuing your education and maintaining a knowledge of current risk management trends.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Provide administrative support for Herman Miller's captive insurance company, Milsure Insurance, Ltd.
Provide support and response for legal inquiries relating to Product Liability by investigating and responding to product liability cases. You will assist in all aspects of litigation, legal, and/or factual research and analysis, draft legal documentation, and act as a liaison with outside counsel and other administrative agencies in the resolution of legal issues as appropriate.
Work closely with Business Risk and Human Resources teams to ensure regularized audits, and support a system for tracking compliance.

A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Law, or Finance, or equivalent experience.
Three years of professional experience in the risk and insurance industry with a broad knowledge of risk management techniques and program management.
Demonstrated experience with insurance negotiations and renewals.
A proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A team-oriented style and a proven ability to work effectively with others.
The ability to approach work with a high degree of flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing prioritization and deadlines.
A self-directed work style and a proven ability to work independently of immediate supervision.
Excellent organizational skills, an attention to detail, and the ability to generate highly accurate work with a sense of urgency.
A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment.
The ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
