About Our Internship Program:

Here at Amway, our interns develop through real world experience and are assigned meaningful projects that challenge and allow for personal growth. All Interns receive project support and on-going performance feedback from a person advisor and hiring manager. Amway hosts over 80+ interns each summer and offers programming events designed to assist navigating Amway culture, making the most of a summer internship, and building a successful career. The program provides exposure to a breadth of career fields and offers unique opportunities to learn business acumen, work cross-functionally and showcase their skillsets directly to hiring managers and executives.

Internship Eligibility:

This job posting is for our summer 2021 Internship Program (May – August); qualified candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and one semester or more left of school to complete at the beginning of their internship. Candidates who have graduated are not eligible to intern.

Internship Job Title: Product Development Intern

What is special about this team: We create and optimize recipes for the color cosmetics, home and personal care products produced and sold around the world by Amway. In order to do this, we work closely with marketing, key suppliers and manufacturing.

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success: Under the guidance and mentorship of a senior level scientist, an intern would develop and perform laboratory experiments to test hypotheses related to product development. Test data will then be evaluated with the mentor, leading to either additional testing, new technology evaluation, or formulation development.

An example of a typical project is: A typical internship project in our group would involve developing recommendations for a portion of a new product formulation. For example, an intern may be asked to test the performance of various surfactant systems in a shampoo or evaluate color retention polymer technologies for a propsed new laundry detergent. These projects are REAL with recommendations frequently incorporated into new product launches, sometimes leading to new discoveries and patent applications.

What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?

Desired Skills: Mastery of organic and/or analytical chemistry, evidence of creativity and problem solving, and exceptional written and oral communication skills

Desired Degree: Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
