This position is responsible for supporting an array of business and transactional matters with a focus on global trade and regulatory compliance. Additional responsibilities include assistance with maintenance of import processes and controls and collaborating with team members to drive trade compliance solutions that maximize import efficiency.


What You'll be Doing:

  • Troubleshoot adhoc trade related issues in support for both internal and external customers
  • Addressing trade compliance issues as it applies to Customs valuation, duty saving programs, post summary corrections, and internal/external audits
  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing import entries relative to country of origin, classification, valuation, tariffs, etc.
  • Solicit Vendors for Bill of Materials to substantiate qualification of a Free Trade Agreement
  • Daily trade compliance operations for import transactions to ensure timely clearance
  • Entry reviews for Post Summary Corrections
  • Identify Key Opportunities for continuous process improvements, implements solutions to eliminate identified compliance deficiencies
  • Monitor and review U.S. Import Regulations with respect to determination of product classifications and Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Assist with Classifying Products
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to identify and rectify any information/process gaps
  • Maintains and analyzes a broad set of trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and Meijer initiatives to ensure legal compliance
  • Creates and analyzes trade compliance data using spreadsheets and other database tools to support business goals and initiatives

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, or related area of study
  • 3+ years experience in trade compliance preferred
  • Customs Brokers License preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year of hiring
  • Must possess strong research skills
  • Ensure work product is at the highest level of accuracy and timeliness
  • Strong project management, analytical and organizational skills are essential with the ability to perform day-to-day activities independently
