Due to continuous growth we are currently seeking an HR Generalist for our Corporate office in Grand Rapids, MI. The Corporate HR team supports all divisions and locations in the Etna Family of Companies.
JOB SUMMARY: Coordination and performance of smooth, efficient, and accurate daily HR tasks and activities to maintain and improve associate morale, keep the Company profitable and legally compliant, and positively promote the Company within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These include the following and others may be assigned.
Be friendly to every external and internal customer/potential customer you come in contact with and assist them to the best of your ability. If you are unable to assist them, politely put them in contact with the correct person who can.
Provide helpful and pleasant assistance to, and maintain strong relationships with, associates and management, vendors, and suppliers.
Administer, explain, and enforce company policies and procedures and assist with policy, procedure, and SOP creation and updates.
Serve as a liaison between employees and management.
Time and Attendance: Coordinate daily time and attendance activities, ensure ADP/Attendance Counts data integrity, administer FMLA claims, and run and create time and attendance reports.
Payroll: Conduct all daily payroll activity, perform all payroll processing, maintain uncashed and voided checks documentation, maintain payroll-related records, and run and create reports.
Recruiting: Assist with ADP recruiting system set up and maintenance, coordinate job postings and the job bid process, pay recruiting invoices, interview candidates, make job offers to applicants, ensure new hire paperwork is completed, maintain the HR department recruiting tracking spreadsheet, attend recruiting events, and find new recruiting sources.
Benefits: Coordinate processing of benefits eligibility and election changes, assist employees with benefit issues, coordinate benefits communication and information on Employee Portal, pay benefits invoices, collect benefit premiums from employees on leave of absence, write a benefits article for each newsletter, and assist with maintenance of benefit documents and reporting.
Training: Coordinate training registration and monitor training completion, maintain training records, monitor ASA endowment usage, and pay training invoices.
New Hires and Orientation: Conduct the benefits portion of orientation.
Performance Reviews: Coordinate the performance review process, including collect completed review forms and get with VP of HR on raises, calculate retro pay and enter raise information in ADP, and enter next review dates in ADP.
Safety and Workers Compensation: Participate with administration of the Company safety and risk management programs, and general legal compliance, including administer workers compensation claims, maintain OSHA logs, and assist with coordination and monitoring of safety training.
Events and Recognition:
Coordinate recognition and reward
and rewards programs, including
promote spot awards and
coordinate year-end awards program, and
lead one quarterly charity event each year.
Discipline and Termination:
Assist with exit and stay interviews
and investigations as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of general Human Resource concepts and federal, state, and local employment laws.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines and easily adapt to changing situations.
Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, judgment, stress management, accuracy, presentation, and problem solving skills.
Maintain professional image as a representative of the company.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, with or without a calculator.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ADP software.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Certifications and/or Licenses:
Valid driverâ€™s license and acceptable driving record.
HRCI or SHRM certification preferred
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelorâ€™s degree from four-year college or university; or
Three to five years of HR experience; or
Equivalent combination of experience and education.
