Job Title:   Crew Leader/Grounds Maintenance
Job Description:   Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a seasonal position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Job Description
Summary / Objective
The Crew Leader mentors and provides guidance to supported employment participants engaged in a variety of physical tasks needed to maintain the grounds on Pioneer Resources properties.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Work with program managers and supports coordinators to identify candidates for employment and training.
• Provide training and supervision of individuals who are engaged in grounds, custodial, maintenance, gardening, snow removal or other supported employment activities. Training may take the form of demonstration, verbal and physical prompts, or other methodologies appropriate to the individual.
• Teach safety skills; and assure that crew members follow safety practices, and wear recommended personal protective equipment.
• Intervene per MANDT standards when required to prevent or redirect behaviors that are inappropriate in a work setting. Mentor and provide guidance to participants in work professionalism.
• Ensure that crewmembers are treated with respect and dignity on the job.
• Record information about the levels of performance of crew members, including daily input into agency database(s), currently Groveware.
• Maintain lawn care equipment in good working order, assuring proper maintenance protocols are followed.
• Drive an agency vehicle and transport crew to a variety of work locations, towing a trailer as needed.
• Perform the same grounds maintenance tasks as members of the crew, assuring completion of all required tasks.
• Apply herbicides or pesticides following safety protocols, if required for lawn or garden maintenance.
• Maintain a working knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
• Assist Pioneer maintenance staff occasionally.

Requirements:   Experience & Educational Requirements
• A high school diploma or GED and an ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics at a high school level.
• Working knowledge of gardening, composting, custodial work, and grounds maintenance; including familiarity with lawn care equipment.
• Ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals, experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Effective communication skills to train and supervise crew members and to relate to customers, case managers, and others.
• Employee must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s license with less than six points; must be
able to pull and back up a trailer safely.
