Job Title:   Peer Support Specialist
Job Info:   Opportunity for an individual who has a unique perspective based upon his/her own experience with mental illness. The PSS draws upon their personal growth experience to carry the message of hope and recovery to individuals receiving mental health services. By offering encouragement, support, outreach and training, the PSS cultivates and secures a connection with the individual, while teaching personal responsibility and serving as a mentor and role model. May be asked to provide direct services to individuals such as outreach and engagement, personal assistance in the completion of daily living skills, linkage to community supports, transportation, in-home services, group facilitation and advocacy.
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
* Certified as a Peer Support Specialist by the Michigan Department of Community Health.
* Excellent communication skills and teamwork a must.
* Valid MI driver’s license and driving record which complies with agency policy.
* Ability to regularly provide out-of-office service in non-structured, unpredictable situations.
* Ability to implement physical assistance/intervention as warranted.

Full-time position; occasional evenings and weekends.
