April 12, 2004, Grand Rapids – WILX Channel 10, the NBC affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, has joined the CareerMatrix Network of employment resources.
“We are bringing together media resources like television and radio, as well as regional Internet resources, trade associations, employers and job candidates into a single employment network”, says Dennis Hoyle, Co-Owner of CareerMatrix.com.
The CareerMatrix Network uses the power of their employment website to add a simple to use, local employment resource, to websites throughout Michigan and beyond. The partnership with WILX will bring strong employment services to Lansing, Jackson and Central Michigan. The WILX Career Center provides easy access for job candidates via their wilx.com website. A job posted on their website will appear on CareerMatrix.com and vice-versa.
Other network partners include GrandRapidsLive.com, MiBiz.biz, Mich.info (Michigan Start Pages), mlpna.org (Michigan Licensed Practical Nurses Association) and many more. All of the network partners share job postings, increasing the reach for all employers and job seekers.
Interview with Dennis Hoyle:
What is your goal?
“To become the best local employment website in Michigan by creating partnerships with other media resources and sharing employment information via the Internet”.
How do you choose your partners?
“Television and radio stations, by virtue of their marketing power, are a perfect alliance for the “CareerMatrix Network”. “It’s a win-win situation for all of us. Employment is always a hot topic. When the economy is good, employers will look for the most effective way to find job candidates, when it's not, job candidates will flock to their website to find jobs”
“Local Internet sources such as GrandRapidsLive.com and Mich.info are very popular because they provide a local connection to the Internet. People like to do business with local suppliers. We make it easy for regional websites to provide the same services as national sites.”
“Trade associations like Michigan Licensed Practical Nurses Association (mlpna.org) provide industry specific information to their members. We offer them a way to create a custom employment community for their own members.”
What are your plans now?
“We have recently signed contracts to add The Lakeshore Human Resource Management Association (lhrma.org) as a partner web site within a few days and have another website in the works for the Kalamazoo area”
How long have you been in business?
“We have been in operation since June of 1998; CareerMatrix.com is the only locally owned and operated Internet employment resource in West Michigan. Many companies set up web sites with the name of your city in the web address to make it appear that they are local when the company is actually located several states away or in another country.
We are in this for the long haul. This is our business; it’s not a sideline for us. Job candidates come to our website to find employment, not sports scores or recipes”.
