Job Title:   COTA
Job Description:   The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work with residential clients receiving occupational therapy services to maximize their functional independence in activities of daily living by providing therapeutic treatment and interventions under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OTR).


-Collaborate with clinicians and direct care staff to identify client's potential needs for occupational therapy services and direct referral to OTR for evaluation.
-Communicate with OTR to discuss assessment and evaluation findings and therapeutic goals.
-Continue communication with previously mentioned parties to review client's progress and identify further needs.
-Document clients progress during the treatment process and provide detailed written observation for the OTR's use in evaluation.
-Planning of therapeutic activities that are aimed toward meeting each client's individual therapeutic goals.
-Providing appropriate sensory tools, visual aids, and any other necessary resources to assist the clients in achieving maximal functional independence.
-Provide an at home therapeutic program with suitable resources nd visual/written aids when appropriate.
-Use opportunities to include the client's direct care staff, clinicians, and family in the therapeutic activities or home programs.
-Provide discharge recommendations, resources, and referrals as deemed necessary and appropriate upon client's discharge from Wedgwood Christian Services or from occupational therapy services under the direction of the OTR.
Requirements:   Associates degree from accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
-Minimum of 1-3 years of working experience in occupational therapy. clinical experience working with adolescents and/or families is preferred
-Professional license from the NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) is required
-Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary team in a residential treatment setting is preferred
-Weekend availability is required every other weekend
Salary:   Commensurate with experience
Benefits:   PT position. 20 Hours per week
Must have evening and weekend availability!
