Guest Services Associate - Volunteer Services *Days - 20hrs/wk

Shift: Days

General Summary:

Under limited direction, the Guest Services Associate is responsible for greeting and assisting all patients, visitors, and staff upon entry into the facilities at specified locations. The Guest Services Specialist will follow established protocols and safety guidelines. Guest Services Specialists will be cross-trained to provide coverage at multiple locations, and may rotate locations as needed in response to departmental needs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Healthcare or direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledgeable of infection prevention including hand hygiene and standard precautions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with the flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
  • Basic computer knowledge including data entry skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to various locations.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Able to flex working hours (including weekends) to accommodate scheduling needs of the organization.
  • Able to prioritize daily tasks simultaneously within a fast paced, ever changing work environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Welcome and greet all patients, visitors, and employees.
  2. Assist patients and visitors with information including internal and external directions and information on meeting rooms and scheduled educational events.
  3. Project a concierge-style customer service attitude and professional demeanor while assisting individuals.
  4. Answer and process incoming calls to Guest Services Desk.
  5. Communicate with credibility and confidence.
  6. Utilize conflict de-escalation techniques to diffuse visitor dissatisfaction while maintaining the highest levels of customer service during a rapidly changing/dynamic environment.
  7. Process information promptly and accurately.
  8. Collaborate and problem solve with co-workers.
  9. Assist with lobby area upkeep including wiping down surfaces, disposing of solicitation materials, etc.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
